When we spend time in the alps with our children they forget mobile phones, PS4’s etc. They love the outdoors and we end up swimming, playing tennis, paddleboarding or getting a summer chair lift to the top of the mountain for lunch with a view. Every day is a new adventure and we can’t wait to return again.
Having camped in Chamonix 20 years ago we fell in love with the alpine spring & summer. The beautiful scenery, treeline walks by the river and the clear mountain air is good for the soul in every way. From romantic walks along the river with the sweet smell of pine trees to reaching the mountain tops via the network of chair lifts the limit is endless and the views are breath taking. Take a picnic to the stunning lake Montriond and enjoy a swim in the lake or hire a paddleboard.
Morzine is part of the awesome Portes du Soleil which offers mountain bikers thousands of kilometres of downhill and cross-country trails, an extensive lift system specially adapted to carry bikes. Instructors are available to teach every level. You will also find whitewater rafting, kayaking, paddleboarding, cycle hire, ice skating, highwire, horse riding, tobogganing, Yoga and pilates and many more. Spend a day exploring the stunning beautiful ‘Venice of the Alps’. Annecy is an old alpine town with cobbled streets, winding canals and pastel-coloured houses. Annecy hosts a beautiful lake with sandy shores, extensive water sports, swimming, water slides and a cycle track all the way around.
Chamonix is our other choice of great away days which is the home of Mont Blanc the highest summit in western Europe. Take a trip up the Aiguille du midi and discover the stories of the pioneers of alpinism and step out on to the glass viewing box thousands of feet above ground, if you dare! Chamonix has become truly international destination that attracts many visitors every year. Our partners run day trips throughout the summer (June-September).
